Actionist Definition
Everyone can be an Actionist™. Below are some of my definitions of the word.
  1. Someone who motivates and inspires people to take action in their everyday lives.
  2. Someone of any age, race, class, and gender who wants to walk their talk out in the world and lead by example.
  3. Someone willing to do what it takes to make a difference in their lives and in the world at large.

Ways to take action

1. Support a friend/loved one. Letting a friend or loved one know that you are supporting them in their choices, can mean a lot. Knowing that they are supported, gives them and you the strength to keep making those great choices.

Featured Actionist : Stacey Politi

Eve's Rib Clothing (http://www.evesribclothing.com/) was created by Stacey Politi as a way to love herself and those around her. It is clothing dedicated to promoting positive body image in girls and women while donating a part of the proceeds to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). For as long as she can remember, Stacey has been frustrated with the narrow standards of beauty imposed on girls and women--knowing that the entire Western world was just a bit too much to conquer, she decided to start small. "It was a holiday, we had already finished dinner and dessert, yet all the women in my family stood around the table picking at the food, while picking at themselves," Stacey remembers. While Stacey participated in this family tradition, she envisioned herself walking around with "love your body already" stamped across her forehead, helping to remind her and others of their beauty. Since tattoos are painful, Stacey produced shirts with these same sayings, giving women sassy, comfortable clothing while making a generous donation to the National Eating Disorders Association.

Since a young age, Stacey has struggled with negative body image and now feels that it isn't her appearance that needs changing, but they way in which she comprehends her beauty. Stacey says, "It’s not about my size, it's about what I see, and it's not about what I look like, it's about what I feel like. I could have been voted the most beautiful woman in the world and my only thought would be that the world had gone mad."

Her mission is not to work towards women loving themselves individually as they are. In order to carry this out, Stacey has made sure to have Eve's Rib Clothing comes in a range of sizes to help every woman feel comfortable in her own skin--allowing women everywhere to point out that "obsessing over pounds is for British bankers," that "you should only go Hungary, when you're in Budapest," and that we should all "love our bodies already!" Eve's Rib is about building a community for change by empowering individual women to transform their own feelings towards themselves. Today, Stacey is going to work to love her body and hopes that you can too.
